“In 2009 only 39% of Americans said they believe in evolution. There is no shame in having faith… except when it denies science.”
Our advertising campaign at RIT is focused on promoting critical thinking and science. Help us spread skepticism!
Skepticism is a crucial element in all walks of life, from the information you are fed, to the news you hear. It is no different in the face of paranormal claims and supernatural explanations to seemingly unexplainable events. The JREF Foundation is committed to providing reliable information about paranormal claims. It both supports and conducts original research into such claims. They offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event.
To date, no one has passed the preliminary tests.

The RIT Skeptics exist to “promote and practice the open, rational, and scientific examination of the universe and our place in it, and that ethics and morality can be meaningfully based on rational and humanistic ideals and values, promote skeptical inquiry and provide community for atheists, agnostics, humanists, skeptics, naturalists and other freethinkers.” We are a group of people that want evidence for extraordinary claims such as aliens, conspiracy theories, claims of alternative medicine (including homeopathy and miracle cures), ghosts, other paranormal activities and religion. We have no group ideology besides holding a default skeptical position on issues that have little or no evidence. Many of us are humanists. Humanists hold that all people have dignity and worth, and believe that humans are able to determine right and wrong by reason. We don’t think that anything needs a supernatural explanation, just that science doesn’t have all the answers..yet.
